Josie is a nine year old American Staffordshire Terrier. She is sweet and loving and currently lives with a cat and a Pomeranian. The only times she's had any issues with her housemates is when there have been food confrontations, so we make sure to feed them separately. She is active when she gets the chance to go on long walks or play tug of war, and largely a couch potato the rest of the time (see images below).
Josie loves meeting new people, but she is reactive to new dogs especially while on leash, so care must be taken when walking her. She's been on medication for the last few years to curb the reactivity, and it seems to help her out.
Josie has two past bite incidents that anyone considering adopting her should be aware of:
Towards another dog when meeting for the first time and food was at play, there was a confrontation in which Josie bit the ear of the other dog.
Towards a person when Josie's foot became painfully trapped in an outdoor chair, someone Josie was unfamiliar with wrenched her paw out and she bit their hand.
We love Josie very much and it's a hard decision to make to try to find her a new home, but we just don't want to take any chances that she may be too rough with our newborn.
She is fixed and up to date with all of her shots. We're also willing to put up some credit at any vet of choice to help her new family with initial vet visits and pills/shots. Please consider taking Josie in because she deserves a safe and loving home.
